An evening of experimental poetry performance devised by singers, musicians, actors and poets to celebrate National Poetry Day 2014 and its theme of ‘Remember’. Presented by The Poetry Café.
Drop by from 6.30pm and submit your written poems about remembrance into the poetry time capsule!

3 19:30 The Poetry in London: First Fridays

Poetry in London are delighted to invite you to their very first live event! There will be a few Open Mic spots, A Surprise Feature Act, a discussion on this month’s theme and the opportunity to network with others. This month’s theme is collaboration, so you are invited to either come up with a short solo poem on the topic (30 secs) or team up with another poet and produce a 1 minute piece to be shared on the night! 4 19:00 Gift of Sacrifice: Sufi poetry, music on Chinese flute, and meditation for Eid

With this event falling on Eid al Adha we are celebrating the spirituality of sacrifice in all traditions. Would it be too much sacrifice if you bought a poem to share? Readings from the tale of Layla and Majnun, the Arab poet-saint Rabia, and Tagore in Bengali and English. Sufi music from Turkey, Chinese music on 'dizi' (bamboo flute), and 'dhrupad' songs from India. And to end we will have a Sufi 'zikr' meditation - with chanting, movement, breathing, and music. £8 on the door.
