'Laughing Buddha, Weeping Sufi': Sufi poetry, Dhrupad music, meditation

Classic Sufi poetry readings, Sufi music, and a Sufi 'zikr'. And please bring your original spiritual poetry. We have a taster session of Dhrupad singing led by Richard Roberts (Krishnadyanam), Nada yoga practitioner and teacher of Vedic chanting. Ending with a Sufi 'zikr' meditation.

Four Minute Movies. A new open mic / filming session for poets, storytellers & comedians on the 2nd Monday of every month at the Poetry Cafe.

A wonderful opportunity to discuss your poetry on a one-to-one basis with poet and tutor John Glenday. Each session takes place on a Saturday at the Scottish Poetry Library, Edinburgh.

Poetry Surgery offers a relaxed but in-depth analysis of your poems. Identify strategies for further developing your writing, discuss problems you may be experiencing and look at strategies for taking your work forward. There will be plenty of time to talk about all those things you need to know about writing, revising and submitting your work.

John has one session left: 11.30 - which lasts one hour. 

Once your session is booked, you will be asked to send up to 6 poems, or 150 lines maximum, in advance, so that John has sufficient time to read your poems beforehand. We'll also ask you to provide a brief note about your goals for your writing and what specifically you hope to gain from the Surgery.

Fee: £40 for Poetry Society members, £50 for non-members.
