Ty Newydd, the National Writers' Centre for Wales

(Poetry Organisation)

Details:

nominated by: sian northey

Ty Newydd is located a few minutes walk from the North Wales coast, a short drive from the mountains of Snowdonia and only a few hours by train from London. It has been offering residential creative writing courses for the past 16 years and has recently reopened with greatly improved facilities including disabled access. There are a variety of courses in all genres - poetry, fiction, scriptwriting and drama, and courses suitable for writers of all levels of ability and experience. The maxium number on any course is 16 and they work with two tutors who are experienced writers in their field. Nearly all courses run from Monday evening to Saturday morning and are a combination of workshops, individual tutorials and readings with time in between for writing.
A bursary fund exists and it is the aim to enable everybody who would benefit from a course at Ty Newydd to do so.
Ty Newydd also offers courses with a similar format to groups of young writers from schools and colleges.
Details of all the courses are available on the website.
