The Heaventree Press is a radical poetry publishing house, founded in 2002 by University of Warwick graduates. It has won the Raymond Williams Prize and secured substantial funding from the Arts Council England, and several of its poets have won Eric Gregory Awards, including the managing editor, Jonathan Morley, in 2006. It has published or is currently planning publications with Les Murray, David Dabydeen, Alice Oswald, John Burnside, Pascale Petit, Mario Petrucci, Andy Brown, Kei Miller, Derek Walcott and Wole Soyinka, plus a host of new poets. As well as organsing an inspiring live events programme in the city of Coventry, Heaventree works with local schools and community groups to encourage the writing and reading of poems and in 2007 will launch a Festival of Literature and Literacy, themed in its inaugural year around the bicentenary of abolishing slavery. If you haven't heard of this energetic and sophisticated publishing house, then you should check it out - but please buy one of the books on offer before submitting work!!
