Details:

Sir William Davenant (1606-1668), appointed Poet Laureate in 1638, after the death of Ben Jonson. Davenant was closely associated with Shakespeare (rumoured to be his godfather) who was a frequent visitor to Davenant's home and birthplace, The Crown Inn, Oxford.
