Bangor Library has a well stocked poetry collection concentrating mainly on post 1950 poetry and Irish poets. They run poetry events nearly every month, with readings, workshops, and a poetry reading group. One poet has described it as "The Best poetry library in Northern Ireland"
This year an episode the Radio4 poetry programme "The word on the street" was recorded in the library. Poets like Selima Hill, Levi Tafari and Jackie Kay have all performed to capacity audiences in the Reading Area This Poetry Landmark has made an impact on writers and readers of poetry both in the town of Bangor and much further afield.
