Poetry Landmarks

Little Barford, Bedfordshire

(Associated Place)

Nicholas Rowe (1674 - 1718) was born and baptised in Little Barford, Bedfordshire. He went on to be Poet Laureate from 1715-18 and was also the first person to write a critical edition of the works of Shakespeare. It was with much sadness for the residents of Little Barford that he was not buried in their village, but instead in Westminster.
