Poetry Landmarks

(Poetry Festival)

Over fifteen years at the festival has seen Poetry&Words host hundreds of poets from far and wide, including many superstars of the poetry world, such as: ‘Shadow Poet Laureate’, Adrian Mitchell; award winning poet, Patience Agbabi; poet, critic, author and reviewer, Peter Finch; Carol Ann Duffy; and Radio 4 regular, Elvis McGonagall; as well as an impromptu performance by Billy Bragg in 2004.

In 2008 we increased our profile at the festival and moved to a new marquee in the Theatre and Circus area. We hosted a fantastic mix of hip hop, dub, beat, comic, ‘literary’ and performative bards as well as the Glastonbury Poetry Slam, which has run at the festival since 1994 (just four months after slam first came to the U.K.).
