The Knapp, Ledbury

John Masefield (1878-1967), Poet Laureate from 1930-67 was born in a house called The Knapp in Ledbury, Herefordshire. Although Masefield didn't live in Ledbury very long, he fondly recalled the town in his later poetry, referring to the chirch as having "a golden vane surveying half the shire".
