Poetry Landmarks

The Morag Morris Poetry Lectures, University of Surrey

(Ongoing Event)

This annual event is given by an outstanding poet on one of the great poets of the twentieth century (and in due course the twenty first). It is unique also in that the poems selected by the poet-lecturer are read by students of the Guildford School of Acting Conservatoire - and with the same concentration as musicians lavish on their score!

The series started in 1974 with Stephen Spender on Eliot; Stallworthy on Wilfrid Owen; Heaney on 'Yeats as an Example?'; Andrew Motion on Edward Thomas; Blake Morrison on 'The Movement Poets', and more recently Fanthorpe on Kipling and Bernard O'Donoghue on 'The Love Poetry of W. B. Yeats'.

All lectures are free of charge.
