Poetry Landmarks

Stowe Landscape Gardens, National Trust

(Associated Place)

Many poets were involved in the creation of Stowe's classical 18th Century public Gardens, Pope and Thompson in particular. But these gardens have a unique twist they were also built as a political theme park blatantly anti the first Prime Minister, Sir Robert Walpole. Here you will find both beauty and satire in poetry. The Gardens are hoping to raise funds to have a poet in residence during 04/05 adding a 21st Century theme.
