Adlestrop

(Associated Place)

Details:

nominated by: Alison Morgan

Adlestrop is the village where Edward Thomas's express train drew up, a moment immortalised in his poem of the same name. The station sign is still there, in the village bus shelter near the church; and the site of the platform on the railway line is still visible. The station is gone.
