The Cyder Press

nominated by: fleur mortimer

The Cyder Press is a small imprint established, edited and managed by Professor Peter Widdowson within the University of Gloucestershire in order to extend the resources provided by the University’s Dymock Poets Archive & Study Centre. The latter promotes interest in the work of a group of poets who briefly gathered in the village of Dymock, on the north-western borders of Gloucestershire, just before the First World War. Members included Lascelles Abercrombie, Wilfrid Gibson, Robert Frost, Rupert Brooke, Edward Thomas, John Drinkwater and Eleanor Farjeon. The principal function of the Press is to reprint long out-of-print or little-known texts by the Dymock Poets themselves, but also works by other cognate writers with regional, literary or period connections.
